Nead is the noncommissioned officer-in-charge of public affairs assigned to the 59th Medical Wing at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The master sergeant has served in the military for 14 years.
She is the daughter of Vilma and Richard Nead of Grants Pass, Ore., and granddaughter of Sandra and Eddie Lum of Ewa Beach, Oahu. She is the foster daughter of Shirley and Raymond Kawaihalau, and niece of Glenda and Louie Kaaloha, all of Volcano Village.
Nead is a 1997 graduate of Waiakea High School.
